FAQs
What events do you have?
We plan on having academic, professional, social, and volunteering events. Some stress-reducing social events include rant sessions, tea/coffee socials, yoga, plate-breaking, group study sessions, and a gala. Some professional and academic events include discussing mental health struggles & strategies as well as having guest speakers (physicians, pre-med students, medical students, counselors, etc.). We plan to have volunteering events for various mental health causes.
How can I be more involved?
This RSO is structured to allow you to be as involved as you like to be. At our first tier, we have our general members with gold, silver, and bronze status. At our second tier, which includes more involvement, would be our committees. Committee members work with a member of the executive board to further plan for the future of the organization. At our third tier, we have our executive board positions which are chosen in the spring of each academic year and the position is conditional for the whole academic year.
What are committees?
Committees are the first step towards being more involved and engaged towards the RSO. If you are looking to have a greater role in events, meetings, and the learn the logistics of the RSO this is a great place to start. It is also the best way to move up to the executive board. Each committee will be spearheaded by a member of the executive board. For example sake, the treasurer will have a finance committee that will work to organize fundraising events but also learn the ins and outs of financing an organization! If you are interested in being a committee member, applications come out fall of every academic year and for returning members we try to see gold status as a general member.
How do you know my gold, silver, or bronze status?
Our secretary is able to assign point values to every event and meeting. Based on the pre-determined point ranges, we delegate a gold, silver, and bronze status. We simply don’t disclose the point values to take pressure off of reaching a specific number and to encourage genuine engagement in what you are passionate and interested about within the organization.
